And every business expects to benefit from it. BISC, as a joint venture between C&W and SIEMENS, is playing an important role in the development of Chinese telecommunication industry. The objective of this project was to establish a computer network which will help not only communication between BISC and its headquarters, but also the management of the company resources. The project was divided into two phases:To establish the network hardware.The LAN was based on optical fiber and twisted lines. It contained a number of IBM, HP servers and hundreds of PCs. The total number of the information nodes was over 500. The system adopted Bay28115 exchanger as the switching center, Bay303, Bay 304, Bay 350T HUB as the final access nodes. It used Windows NT4.0 and NetWare as the software platform. Through this network, the company could achieve the goal such as the production management, the commercial management, the office automation and so on. At the same time, the network could connect the headquarter and the branches all over the world via leased line or modem dialing-up, so it made e-mail and the broadcasts of new products efficiently and accurately.To establish the Network Management System.In order to realize the central management of the equipment, network, system database and application, and to promote the service quality and the working efficiency, we provided a NMS from CA (Computer Associates): Unicenter TNG. According to different kinds of the resources in the network, we installed different options for them. For example, on the Windows NT Server, we installed Asset Management, MS Exchange Manager, Software Delivery Manager, Advanced Help Desk Manager, Remote Control Manager, TNG Performance Agent, TNG Base Manager, so it could serve as the central control platform of Unicenter TNG and realized the functions such as software delivery, remote control, asset management and the management of the entire network. As for Exchange Server, Database Server, Novell Server, PC Workstations, we installed other options. Such non-IT resources as exchanger, routers, the software provided the development tool 揂gent Factory API? But for the cycle of the development, the present solution was to let it be in the management scope of the Unicenter TNG via SNMP.The LAN project in Changzhi Daily Press (03/1999?4/1999)Changzhi Daily is one of the large newspaper in Shanxi Province. The objective of the project was to establish a quick, stable, safe computer network which could realize the automation of news collecting, editing and type-setting. The system was based on Windows NT 4.0, MS SQL Server, Founder Integrated News Service Processing System Software Platform, and HP Lh3 dual-machine, tolerant system, 3COM switch products hardware platform.There were several reasons for me to select Windows NT4.0 Server as the network OS. Firstly, the server was easy to install, manage and operate. It has the same interface as Windows95 and the built-in management director can help the administrator complete the routine work quickly and correctly. Secondly, it has built-in communication service. Taking advantage of this function, the reporter can connect to the Windows NT 4.0 from outside or via RAS (Remote Access Service), so, by this way, realizes the high efficiency of the operation. Third, considering the network expansion in the future, it is easy to upgrade to the Intranet and connect to the Internet based on this OS. MS SQL Server has a strong data warehouse, and can be integrated with MS Office easily. Using this function, the press can work out effective strategy quickly and accurately. Considering the user抯 requirement, we adopted the Integrated News Service Processing System produced by Founder as the system application software. This system is designed for the processing of large-scale integrated news service. It can provide the whole application solutions for the establishment of the information system. It contains many sub-systems such as News Collection-edition System, Integrated Typesetting System, Information Searching System, Advertisement Management System and so on. In this project, we chose Feiteng Integrated Typesetting System, Wentao Collection-edition System and Yuanbo Information Searching System. The Collection-edition System can provide a complete processing of management in collecting and editing. Information can be exchanged between this system and the typesetting system. The authorized user can transfer and preview the typesetting results at his terminal via the network. The Information Searching System can store and manage all kinds of materials, and provide convenient, quick searching, which greatly improves the efficiency in the information service and materials management. The system adopted Client/Server structure and supported TCP/IP. At the server end, we installed Windows NT as OS, SQL DBMS, Yuanbo Information Searching System as the application software. At the client end, we installed Windows 95/98 and Yuanbo Information Searching System. Regarding the hardware, we chose Founder Shangqi 1000 as Collection-edition workstation, Founder shangqi 6000 as typesetting workstation.3COM SuperStack 3300 serials switches can achieve easily and economically the function enhancement through its convenient adding-up, the high-speed data channel and particular plug-in-use function. Considering the safety of the network, we installed two switches of the same type in the press. In case one switch can not work properly, the network can run under the other one. Also, we selected hubs produced by 3COM. Both the switch and the hub are 10M/100M auto-sensing. This configuration can utilize the band of the network effectively.According to the system analysis, we installed HP dual machine, dual control and tolerant server system consisting of two HP NetServer Lh3 servers and HP NetServer Storage System/6 disk rack. If one server can not function regularly, the network can run under the other one.In the construction of this network, we adopted VLAN technology. Although each department was divided into different virtual network segments and each segment was separated from one another, they can still cooperate with each other, and the chief editor can access to all the segments.In short, using the strong, high-efficient network function of Windows NT, the system realized the management and sharing of the network resources. On the basis of TCP/IP, it realized data exchanging between different operation systems and external networks.Establishment of The Centralized Maintenance and Network Management System in Jiangdu, Jiangsu Province (08/1997-09/1997)The objective of the project was to realize the centralized control of telecommunication network in Jiangdu. Jiangdu telecommunication network had one central office and five branches which chose HJD04 Digital SPC exchanger as their switching equipment. Our company, as the manufacturer of HJD04 exchanger, was appointed to develop this system. According to the situation of the DDN in this region and the number of the branch offices, we chose Cisco 2501 Router which had one Ethernet interface and two WAN interfaces and Cisco 2522 Router which has one Ethernet interface and eight WAN interfaces. At the beginning, we installed three network cards and one hub in each office in order to establish LAN containing three consoles (the maintenance console, the charging console and Communication Handling console). Secondly, we installed Cisco 2501 Routers in the branch offices and Cisco 2522 Router in the central office. Through the WAN interface in Cisco2522 Router and Cisco 2501 Routers, the central office can connect with the five branch offices via DDN on the basis of TCP/IP. The system kept running efficiently after its completion.4. Working as a telecommunication engineer (07/1992-07/1997)In the period from July 1992 to July 1997, I joined the development team of HJD04 Digital SPC Exchanger as a main participant. In this period, I have completed the following work:Draft technical documents for six circuit boards, including the function of boards, testing methods and trouble-shooting.Develop testing software for several boards with MC68000 assembly language.Independently finish more than sixty design of HJD04 SPC exchangers which run in the PSTN, PBN.
